Title: Search The Scriptures
Memorize: How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God? John 5:39-44 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: John 5:39-44 (Nkjv)
[39] You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.
[40] But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
[41] “I do not receive honor from men.
[42] But I know you, that you do not have the love of God in you.
[43] I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.
[44] How can you believe, who receive honor from one another, and do not seek the honor that comes from the only God?
Message:
“You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.” (John 5:39)
If you want to know Jesus, you must be prepared to search the Scriptures.
This goes beyond reading through passages or reading the Bible as though it were a novel; it requires studying and meditating.
This is essential because some treasures are hidden in God’s word that you may never uncover until you search the word diligently and meditate constantly.
What is your attitude towards the Bible? Do you skim through its pages just to fulfil all righteousness? It’s surprising that some people read the Bible only on Sundays because they know that the Pastor could ask those who read their Bible to stand.
So, they read it in order to avoid being embarrassed. There are hidden treasures in the Bible that you cannot access unless you study.
Also, your life can only be transformed by studying and meditating on the word.
Key Point:
There are hidden treasures in God’s word, you need to search to have the treasures.
HYMN 9 – O JESUS, I HAVE PROMISED
1. O Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou for ever near me,
My Master and my Friend:
I shall not fear the battle
If Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway
If Thou wilt be my Guide.
2. O let me feel Thee near me;
The world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle,
The tempting sounds I hear;
My foes are ever near me,
Around me and within;
But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
And shield my soul from sin.
3. O let me hear Thee speaking
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmurs of self-will;
O speak to reassure me,
To hasten or control;
O speak and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul.
4. O Jesus, Thou hast promised
To all who follow Thee,
That where Thou art in Glory
There shall Thy servant be;
And, Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow
My Master and my Friend.
