Title: Freedom That Brings Bondage
Memorize: Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading (Nkjv): John 8: 32-36
[32] And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
[33] They answered Him, “We are Abraham’s descendants, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How can You say, ‘You will be made free’?”
[34] Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.
[35] And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.
[36] Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.
Message:
It’s not unexpected to find young people who want to exercise a measure of independence breaking away from routines, relatives, laid down instructions or ancient landmarks” as the Bible says (Proverbs 22:28).
This freedom they seek means making decisions, taking risks, and spreading their wings to fly. It gives them the confidence to try out new things and grow.
This, in itself, should be commended, but too much freedom can cause a teenager to get into trouble. He/she may take wrong.decisions that can affect his/her destiny.
This explains why many teenagers have regrets when they.see their peers in better positions than themselves.
They wish they can turn back the hands of time in order to make smart choices, but as they say, “opportunity lost may never be regained”.
As a child of God, the only true freedom you can have comes from your knowledge about God. Don’t let your freedom put you in any bondage.
Key Point:
Good people learn from their mistakes, but wise children learn from the mistakes of others and avoid them.
HYMN 5 – TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE
1. Take my life and let it
Consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moment and my days
Let them flow ceaseless praise.
2. Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee
3. Take my voice and let me sing
Always only for my king;
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
4. Take my sliver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as thou shalt choose.
5. Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall no longer mine:
Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store;
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee
