Title: Safety In Counselling
Memorize: Where there is no counsel, the people fall; But in the multitude of counselors there is safety. Proverbs 11:14 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading (Nkjv): 1 Kings 12:6-8
[6] Then King Rehoboam consulted the elders who stood before his father Solomon while he still lived, and he said, “How do you advise me to answer these people?”
[7] And they spoke to him, saying, “If you will be a servant to these people today, and serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever.”
[8] But he rejected the advice which the elders had given him, and consulted the young men who had grown up with him, who stood before him.
Message:
At the generation shift program organized by the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria last year, I told my children that the elders have a lot to learn from them, but they must also realize that as tech-savvy, updated and trendy as they are, they do not know everything.
My people say that what an elder sees sitting down, a child cannot see even if he climbs on a stool.
However, I will go further to say that if the elder puts the child on his shoulder while standing, it’s most likely that the child will see what the elder sees.
By the grace of God, I have been on earth for a short while, and by the leading of the Holy Spirit, God has rescued many young people from untimely death, being cheated, problematic marriages, and future disasters because they listened to our wise counsels and acted on them.
You can be very zealous for God, committed to His work and be growing solidly in faith, however, you will need wisdom to navigate the coming years because Satan is not resting on his oars. I pray that you will remain victorious always in Jesus’ name.
Action Point:
Ask God to lead you to a spiritual elder who will disciple and mentor you in your Christian walk
HYMN 5 – TAKE MY LIFE AND LET IT BE
1. Take my life and let it
Consecrated Lord to Thee
Take my moment and my days
Let them flow ceaseless praise.
2. Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee
3. Take my voice and let me sing
Always only for my king;
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
4. Take my sliver and my gold
Not a mite would I withhold
Take my intellect, and use
Every power as thou shalt choose.
5. Take my will and make it Thine,
It shall no longer mine:
Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne,
6. Take my love, my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure store;
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee
