Title: Evangelism: The Intercessor
Memorize: Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.” John 4:48 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Luke 9:1-2 (Nkjv)
[1] Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.
[2] He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
Message:
Many years ago, I trained a team of youths to evangelize effectively.
One of the things I taught them was that when they met anyone who wouldn’t listen to them, they should ask if the fellow had any issue that they could pray with him or her about.
One day, they met a herbalist who proved quite difficult, so they asked him, “Baba, we know you are very powerful, but is there anything that you haven’t been able to solve? We would like to pray with you about it.”
He told them that his pregnant wife was bleeding and close to death, so my children prayed a simple prayer and left.
They had only walked a short distance away when they heard someone calling out.
They looked back and saw that it was the herbalist.
He testified that his wife had stopped bleeding, and he readily accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
This shows the importance of prayer before and during evangelism.
When going to preach, prayer can help draw the attention of that perceived difficult fellow.
Therefore, my child, the next time you want to preach anywhere, pray first.
Key Point:
Before going out to evangelize, always commit the unbelievers you will meet to God so that He can make their hearts receptive to the gospel.
HYMN 8 – LEAD US HEAVENLY FATHER, LEAD US
1. Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us
O’er the world’s tempestuous sea;
Guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
For we have no help but Thee,
Yet possessing every blessing
If our God our Father be.
2. Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us;
All our weakness Thou dost know;
Thou didst tread this earth before us,
Thou didst feel its keenest woe;
Lone and dreary, faint and weary,
Through the desert Thou didst go.
3. Spirit of our God, descending,
Fill our hearts with heavenly joy,
Love with every passion blending,
Pleasure that can never cloy;
Thus provided, pardoned, guided,
Nothing can our peace destroy.
