Title: God Of Possibilities
Memorize: Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, Ephesians 3:20 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Genesis 18:9-14 (Nkjv)
[9] Then they said to him, “Where is Sarah your wife?” So he said, “Here, in the tent.”
[10] And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.” (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.)
[11] Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing.
[12] Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”
[13] And the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh, saying, ‘Shall I surely bear a child, since I am old?’
[14] Is anything too hard for the Lord? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.”
Message:
In today’s Bible reading, we see that Abraham and Sarah were past childbearing age when God visited them in form of three humans.
While they were entertaining Him, He told Abraham that Sarah would have a baby in nine months.
The Bible says that Sarah laughed within her. I would have also laughed because, biologically, a 90- year-old woman cannot bear a child.
However, God was true to His word, and nine months later, Sarah laughed again because she became a mother.
The essence of this illustration is to emphasize that there is nothing impossible for my God to do.
My dear child, I have good news for you today: if you have been struggling with your academics or having a rough year generally, God will turn your situation around.
He will also turn any negative situation that might exist in your family around for good. Go ahead now and laugh; put the devil to shame.
Key Point:
In the next 15 minutes, ask God what you want Him to do for you.
HYMN 64: WHEN UPON LIFE’S BILLOWS YOU ARE TEMPEST TOSSED
1 When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.
Chorus:
Count your blessings,
name them one by one;
Count your blessings,
see what God hath done;
Count your blessings,
name them one by one;
Count your many blessings, see what
God hath done.
2 Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.
3 When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.
4 So, amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end
