Title: Plan And Re-Plan
Memorize: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: 1 Samuel 30:1-8 (Nkjv)
1 Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire,
2 and had taken captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way.
3 So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive.
4 Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep.
5 And David’s two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive.
6 Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.
7 Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, “Please bring the ephod here to me.” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David.
8 So David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.”
Message:
Today’s Bible reading talks about David, who cried so hard after his enemies took away his family and possessions.
David’s helpless situation turned around when he asked God for a strategy.
God told him to move ahead and assured him that he would overtake his enemies and recover all they had taken if he pursued them.
If David had gone after his enemies based on his instincts alone, he might not have recovered anything.
There are many people today who have a one-size-fits-all approach to every situation, They always stick with their plans, and they don’t try to seek new ways to achieve their goals.
For instance, if the plans you made at the beginning of last year failed, you should re-examine the plans and make adjustments rather than throw away your goals altogether.
You should understand the reasons your plans fails and re-plan, but don’t forget to ask God for a strategy.
My dear child, it is wise to own a journal &or a vision board, as this will help you to document your progress as you towards achieving your goals.
There are many ways to achieve a goal, however you need the right strategy.
Action Point:
Don’t just make plans to achieve goals, ask God for a strategy.
HYMN 8: LEAD US HEAVENLY FATHER, LEAD US
1. Lead us, heavenly Father, lead us
O’er the world’s tempestuous sea;
Guard us, guide us, keep us, feed us,
For we have no help but Thee,
Yet possessing every blessing
If our God our Father be.
2. Saviour, breathe forgiveness o’er us;
All our weakness Thou dost know;
Thou didst tread this earth before us,
Thou didst feel its keenest woe;
Lone and dreary, faint and weary,
Through the desert Thou didst go.
3. Spirit of our God, descending,
Fill our hearts with heavenly joy,
Love with every passion blending,
Pleasure that can never cloy;
Thus provided, pardoned, guided,
Nothing can our peace destroy.
