Title: Prioritize Communing With God
Memorize: Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul. Acts 16:14 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Acts 16:13-14 (Nkjv)
[13] And on the Sabbath day we went out of the city to the riverside, where prayer was customarily made; and we sat down and spoke to the women who met there.
[14] Now a certain woman named Lydia heard us. She was a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God. The Lord opened her heart to heed the things spoken by Paul.
Message:
Today, many young people use their professions, businesses, or skills as excuses for not having time to engage in spiritual activities. Some of them work from their homes but still do not make out time to fellowship with God. Lydia, a businesswoman who sold fabrics, Was not like that, as we see in today’s Bible reading. Despite being a successful businesswoman who probably had a busy schedule, she prioritized spiritual matters and set time aside to worship God in prayers.
Lydia demonstrated the importance of carving out moments of solitude and communion with God amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life. Her life of prayer and devotion illustrates her openness to God’s leading and her desire to align her life with His will.
My dear child, prayer is a lifeline that offers direction, clarity, and comfort in times of uncertainty or confusion. If you don’t have a consistent prayer life, you must carve out time to be with God daily because each day has its own evils.
Key Point:
Prioritize spending time with God every day.
HYMN 61: TAKE THE NAME OF JESUS WITH YOU
1 Take the name of Jesus with you,
Child of sorrow and of woe.
It will joy and comfort give you,
Take it then where’er you go.
Chorus:
Precious name, O how sweet!
Hope of earth and joy of heaven;
Precious name, O how sweet!
Hope of earth and joy of heaven.
2 Take the name of JesUs ever
As a shield from evr’y snare;
If temptations ’round you gather,
Breathe that holy name in prayer.
3 Oh, the precious name of Jesus,
How it thrills our souls with joy,
When His loving arms receive us,
And His songs Our tongues employ!
4 At the name of Jesus bowing,
Falling prostrate at His feet
King of kings, in heaven we’ll crown Him
When our journey is complete.
