Title: What Is The Reason
Memorize: And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins. Matthew 1:21 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: John 3:16-17 (Nkjv)
[16] For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
[17] For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Message:
Everyone in the world anticipates Christmas Day every year, but the celebration usually starts days before so as to get into the mood for the season.
Many years ago, this season was chosen to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ; however, many miss the main reason for the celebration – salvation.
Christmas Day is a day in which Christians should remember the purpose of the first coming of Christ.
This is why you will not see me ‘catching cruise’ or relaxing on Christmas Day.
In the Redeemed Christian Church of God, we have made it a custom to go into the streets to preach the gospel and not merely wish everyone a ‘Merry Christmas’.
This is so that more souls can be won to the kingdom of God. Some people decide to share food on the streets for those that are less privileged.
This is good, but it would be better if it is accompanied by sharing the gospel.
Beloved, before you eat and celebrate today, share the gospel of Jesus Christ with at least one person.
Do not forget that He is the reason for the season. Merry Christmas!
Action Point:
Tell someone about Jesus Christ today
HYMN 31 – WONDERFUL STORY OF LOVE
1. Wonderful story of love!
Tell it to me again;
Wonderful story of love!
Wake the immortal strain.
Angels with rapture announce it,
Shepherds with wonder receive it;
Sinner, O won’t you believe it?
Wonderful story of love!
Refrain:
Wonderful! Wonderful!
Wonderful story,
Wonderful story of love!
2. Wonderful story of love!
Though you are far away;
Wonderful story of love!
Still he doth call today.
Calling from Calvary’s mountain,
Down from the crystal bright fountain,
E’en from the dawn of creation;
Wonderful story of love!
3. Wonderful story of love!
Jesus provides a rest;
Wonderful story of love!
For all the pure and blest;
Rest in those mansions above us,
With those who’ve gone on before us,
Singing the rapturous chorus;
Wonderful story of love!
