Title: God And Your Finances
Memorize: Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; Proverbs 3:9 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Malachi 3:10-12 (Nkjv)
[10] Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.
[11] “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts;
[12] “And all nations will call you blessed, For you will be a delightful land,” Says the Lord of hosts.
Message:
Your money, talents, and opportunities are gifts from God, and how you manage them shows your level of trust in Him. As we see in today’s memory verse, the Bible teaches us to honour God with our possessions. This means that you are meant to set aside a portion of your income or any cash gifts you receive for tithes and offerings before spending on anything else.
Sadly, some teenagers are driven by money and consumed by the chase for wealth (1 Timothy 6:10). They misuse their funds on gambling, sports betting, or get-rich-quick schemes, just to satisfy their fleeting desires. These are poor financial decisions that will hinder anyone from becoming wealthy.
God wants you to be a good steward of every resource He places in your hands. So, instead of wasting money, handle it wisely by saving and investing it in profitable ventures. However, you need to seek financial guidance from professional financial advisors on how to invest your money. Also, you need to honour God by paying your tithes and giving offerings. It is a sure way to store up treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust can destroy (Matthew 6:19-21).
Key Point:
When you honor God with your substance, you are laying up treasures in heaven.
Hymn 30: When We Walk With The Lord
1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey. [Refrain]
3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]
4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]
