Title: His Favor Locates II
MEMORIZE: Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:8 (NKJV)
BIBLE READING ESTHER 5:1-3 (NKJV)
[1]Now it happened on the third day that Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the king’s palace, across from the king’s house, while the king sat on his royal throne in the royal house, facing the entrance of the house.
[2]So it was, when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, that she found favor in his sight, and the king held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther went near and touched the top of the scepter.
[3]And the king said to her, “What do you wish, Queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given to you—up to half the kingdom!”
MESSAGE:
In today’s Bible text, the king raised his golden scepter, which symbolized that he was beckoning Esther to come closer. The golden scepter was a symbol of his power.
This shows that when the time comes for God to favor a fellow, He beckons on him/her to come close to His power. After Esther touched the scepter, the king then told her to make her request, promising that all would be granted, up to half of his kingdom.
Did you also notice that before Esther asked, the king had already said that the answer was settled? This means that when the time of favor comes, all prayers will be answered.
The crux of today’s message is that for God’s favor to locate you, you must draw near to Him. So, if you are yet to give your life to Jesus, take a bold step, ask for forgiveness, and surrender your life to Him today.
If you have given your life to Him and you with sin, rededicate your life to Him today and ask Him to favour you.
PRAYER POINT
Father, please, draw me closer to You and let me be favored.
HYMN
- “There shall be showers of blessing”
This is the promise of love;
There shall be season refreshing
Send from a savior above
Chorus:
Showers of blessing
Showers of blessing we need:
Mercy drops round us are falling
But for the showers we plead.
- “There shall be showers of blessing”
Precious reviving again;
Over the hills and the valleys;
Sound of abundance of rain. - “There shall be showers of blessing”
Send them upon us Oh Lord!
Grant to us now a refreshing;
Come now and honor Thy Word. - “There shall be showers of blessing”
Oh, that today thy might fall,
Now as to God we are Confessing,
Now as on Jesus we call! - “There shall be showers of blessing”
If we but trust and obey;
There shall be season refreshing,
If we let God have his way.
