Title: Walking In Darkness
Memorize: They grope in the dark without light, and He makes them stagger like a drunken man. Job 12:25 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Job 12:19-25 (Nkjv)
[19] He leads princes away plundered, And overthrows the mighty.
[20] He deprives the trusted ones of speech, And takes away the discernment of the elders.
[21] He pours contempt on princes, And disarms the mighty.
[22] He uncovers deep things out of darkness, And brings the shadow of death to light.
[23] He makes nations great, and destroys them; He enlarges nations, and guides them.
[24] He takes away the understanding of the chiefs of the people of the earth, And makes them wander in a pathless wilderness.
[25] They grope in the dark without light, And He makes them stagger like a drunken man.
Message:
Darkness can refer to a state of confusion, gloominess, and utter retrogression, and no child of God should be found in such a state.
God created light to illuminate the world and bring about development, as seen in Genesis l:1-3. However, some people have chosen to remain in darkness.
The moment a fellow accepts Jesus as his or her Lord and Savior, darkness will disappear from the fellow’s life.
Also, as long as you keep looking unto Jesus and doing His will, your spiritual eyes will remain open; you will always have direction and revelation.
There are, however, some attitudes that can make a child of God live in darkness:
• Indulgence in sin
• Disobedience to the Holy Spirit
• Disrespect for one’s parents
• Backsliding
My dear child, if any of these attributes are in your life, ask God to deliver you from them now.
Key Point:
Sinful habits can keep you in darkness.
HYMN 30 – WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey.
3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey.
4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey.
