Title: The Smallest Member
Memorize: Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: James 3:6-9 (Nkjv)
[6] And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity. The tongue is so set among our members that it defiles the whole body, and sets on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire by hell.
[7] For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and creature of the sea, is tamed and has been tamed by mankind.
[8] But no man can tame the tongue. It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
[9] With it we bless our God and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in the similitude of God.
Message:
In today’s Bible reading, we see that the tongue, which is considered one of the smallest organs of the body, is compared with fire.
Of course, there are a lot of good things one can do with fire and these include cooking, creating warmth, et cetera.
However, if fire is not used properly, it can bring destruction. The same applies to the tongue; if the tongue is not used properly, it can lead to death, as seen in our memory verse.
There is power in your tongue, and you need to know how to use it.
Rather than use the power in your tongue to say negative things about people or place curses on them, use it to your advantage.
When you find yourself in a difficult situation, speak positively. The Bible says in Romans 4:17: “..even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.”
Beloved, call forth the things you want in your life, academics, and career with the power in your tongue today.
Key Point:
You can shape your life with your tongue.
HYMN 63 – O FOR A THOUSAND TONGUES TO SING
1 O for a thousand tongues to sing
My great Redeemer’s praise,
The glories of my God and King,
The triumphs of his grace!
2 My gracious Master and my God,
Assist me to proclaim,
To spread thro’ all the earth abroad
The honours of your name.
3 Jesus! the name that charms ourfears,
that bids our sorroWs cease,
‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears,
‘Tis life and health and peace.
4 He breaks the power of cancelled sin,
He sets the prisoner free;
His blood can make the foulest clean;
His blood availed for me.
5 Hear Him, ye dear, His praise, ye dumb,
Your loosened tongues employ
Ye blind behold your Saviour Come;
And leap, ye lame, for joy.
