TOPIC: PRACTICE GOOD HYGIENE I
MEMORISE: Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. Matthew 23:25
READ DEUTERONOMY 23:10-13
[10]If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chance him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:
[11]But it shall be, when evening cometh on, he shall wash himself with water: and when the sun is down, he shall come into the camp again.
[12]Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad:
[13]And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:
MESSAGE
Research has shown that many sicknesses and diseases are as a result of poor hygiene.
From experience, I have discovered that when people create problems for themselves, they blame God for it, whereas, they neglected doing the right things.
In today’s Bible reading, God gave the children of Israel rules on how to maintain proper hygiene within the camp because He was as much interested in their physical environment as He was with their spiritual environment (heart).
Similarly, God expects you to pay attention to your physical appearance and environment.
My dear child, don’t neglect laying your bed, tidying your room, and washing your dirty dishes, toilet, and underwear.
Keeping a pile of dirty clothes without washing them for a long time will only breed germs and bad odors.
Imagine if Jesus walks into your room now, will He give you a thumbs-up?
Bear in mind that Jesus is everywhere; therefore, you must make your heart and space very clean.
ACTION POINT
Do a thorough cleaning of your room at least once every week. Clean out any cobwebs and whatever dirt you find underneath your bed. Also, ensure you do your laundry.
HYMN 10 – O GOD, OUR HELP IN AGES PAST
- O God, our help in ages past
Our hope for years to come
Our shelter from the stormy blast
And our eternal home. - Under the shadow of Thy throne
Thy saints have dwelt secure
Sufficient is Thine arm alone
And our defence is sure. - Before the hills in order stood
Or earth received her frame
From everlasting Thou art God
To endless years the same. - A thousand ages in Thy sight
Are like an evening gone
Short as he watch that ends the night
Before the rising sun. - Time, like an ever-rolling stream
Bears all its sons away
They fly forgotten, as a dream
Dies at the opening day. - O God, our help in ages past
Our hope in years to come
Be thou our guard while trouble last
And our Eternal home.
