Title: When Loved Ones Walk Away
Memorize: When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me. Psalm 27:10 (Nkjv)
Bible Readingr: 2 Timothy 4:16-18 (Nkjv)
[16] At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. May it not be charged against them.
[17] But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
[18] And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work and preserve me for His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen!
Message:
When I was living in sin, I had some friends who usually visited my house to drink alcohol and joke about everything.
When I gave my life to Christ, however, and began serving them soft drinks and water whenever they visited, they gradually stopped coming.
At first, I felt sad and lonely, but I kept visiting my Father in the Lord, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, who was also my mentor.
He made me realise that sometimes, God allows certain people to walk out of our lives so He can bring new people into our lives who will help us to fulfil our destinies.
Soon, I started making friends in the church, and we became engrossed in working for God and organising campus outreaches.
When people walk out of your life, let it remind you that your identity is not in their approval but in God’s unshakeable love.
Instead of holding on to loneliness and rejection, trust God to bring the right people into your life at the right time.
Get involved in different departments within your church or fellowship, or the student union government in your school.
My dear child, get busy rather than wallowing in self-pity.
Key Point:
Instead of feeling bad or rejected when people walk out of your life, get busy for God.
HYMN 14: HO, MY COMRADES! SEE THE SIGNAL
1 HO, my comrades! See the signal
Waving in the sky!
Reinforcements now appearing,
Victory is nigh!
Chorus
“Hold the Fort, for I am coming,”
Jesus signals still;
Wave the answer back to Heaven,
“By Thy grace we will.”
2 See the mighty host advancing,
Satan leading on:
Mighty men around us falling,
Courage almost gone.
3 See the glorious banner waving!
Hear the trumpet blow!
In our Leader’s name we’ll triumph
Over every foe!
4 Fierce and long the battle rages,
But our help is near:
Onward comes our great Commander,
Cheer, my comrades, cheer!
