TOPIC: THE HOLY SPIRIT AND EVANGELISM
MEMORISE: But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8
BIBLE READING: ACTS 2:14-15 & 38-41
14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the LORD our God shall call.
40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.
MESSAGE:
Evangelism is not a casual activity; it is a serious assignment that requires adequate preparation.
To achieve significant results when you go out to evangelise, there are Some things you need to know.
First, you need to spend time praying and getting connected with the Holy Spirit.
When you spend time with the Holy Ghost in prayer, you will receive the boldness and ability to speak the right words that will lead sinners to salvation.
Peter was a very timid man who had previously denied knowing Jesus Christ ( Luke 22:54 – 62).
However, after the upper room experience in Acts 2:1-4, he started preaching Christ boldly, as we see in today’s Bible reading.
My dear child, you are not too young to preach the gospel publicly. By consistently studying your Bible, spending time in prayer, and being filled with the Holy Spirit, you will be empowered to evangelise boldly and win souls for Christ.
Evangelism is a spiritual battle, as the devil will not willingly set his captives free.
Therefore, you must be spiritually equipped before you go out to evangelise.
PRAYER POINT:
You need the help of the Holy Spirit if you want your evangelism to be productive.
HYMN 1:
ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS’ NAME
1 All hail the power of Jesus’ name!
Let angels prostrate fall.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
and crown him Lord of all!
2 O seed of Israel’s chosen race
now ransomed from the fall,
hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all.
Hail him who saves you by his grace,
and crown him Lord of all!
3 Let every tongue and every tribe
responsive to his call,
to him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all.
To him all majesty ascribe,
and crown him Lord of all!
4 Oh, that with all the sacred throng
we at his feet may fall!
We’ll join the everlasting song
and crown him Lord of all.
