MEMORISE: But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. – Matthew 13:25
BIBLE READING: Matthew 13:24-28
24 Another parable put He forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
MESSAGE:
The night is generally seen as a time for rest and relaxation, However, several activities take place at night. For example, secret societies, witches, and cultists hold their meetings mostly at night. Also, immorality, crimes, et cetera mostly take place at night.
Today’s memory verse says that while men slept, the enemy came to sow tares among the wheat. It is good to rest at night; however, a Christian should not spend the whole night sleeping. Instead, Christians should guard their nighttimes in prayers so that the devil will not have access to attack them. In Luke 18:1, the Bible says that we ought to pray always and not faint. Also, in Luke 6:12, Jesus prayed all night on a mountain. Apart from that instance, there were many other times when He prayed at night, and He should be our example in all things.
A good reason you should pray at night is that there are fewer distractions at that time. This is why I enjoy going on my prayer walks at night. When there are no distractions around you, it is very easy to hear from God and get directions from Him. My dear child, make it a habit to pray at night. You can start with 30 minutes and increase the duration as you grow.
KEY POINT:
Set your alarm for 30 minutes of prayer this night.
HYMN 7: Sweet Hour Of Prayer
1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!Prayer points resource
2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
