Title: Save For The Future
Memorize: There is desirable treasure, And oil in the dwelling of the wise, But a foolish man squanders it. Proverbs 21:20 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Genesis 41:33-36 (Nkjv)
[33] “Now therefore, let Pharaoh select a discerning and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt.
[34] Let Pharaoh do this, and let him appoint officers over the land, to collect one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt in the seven plentiful years.
[35] And let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming, and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh, and let them keep food in the cities.
[36] Then that food shall be as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which shall be in the land of Egypt, that the land may not perish during the famine.”
Message:
In today’s Bible reading, Joseph advised advised Pharaoh to store food during the years of plenty to prepare for the famine that was coming.
As a result of his advice, Egypt and many other nations survived the famine.
My dear child, I implore you to develop the habit of saving for the future.
Instead of spending all your allowance or earnings immediately, set aside a portion for future needs.
Whether it is for your education, skill acquisition, a church project, or personal goals, being financially disciplined will ensure that you are prepared for unexpected challenges.
We live in an age where the latest gadgets, clothing, and online trends are constantly promoted.
Many young people feel pressured to keep up with their peers by purchasing expensive items, which usually leads to wasteful spending.
However, controlling yourself in financial matters is a display of responsibility and wisdom.
A simple method for managing money wisely is applying the “10-10-80 principle”: give 10% as tithe to God, save 10%, and budget the remaining 80% for essential expenses.
Practising this principle will help you avoid financial stress and teach you the importance of accountability and contentment.
Key Point:
Don’t spend all you get; save a portion of it.
HYMN: 10 I’M PRESSING ON THE UPWARD WAY
1. I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
Refrain:
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table land;
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2. My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Tho’ some may dwell where these abound,
My pray’r, my aim is higher ground.
3. I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
4. I want to scale the utmost height,
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till Heav’n I’ve found,
Lord, lead me on to higher ground.
