Title: The Danger Of Deception
Memorize: The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. Proverbs 11:3 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Colossians 3:7-9 (Nkjv)
[7] in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.
[8] But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.
[9] Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds,
Message:
Deception is increasingly becoming a norm in our society, affecting both young and old.
It is a dangerous path that leads to broken trust, spiritual downfall, and destruction.
Integrity, however, is as a guide that keeps one on the right path, preserving one’s destiny.
A young man was once expelled from a Nigerian university due to misconduct.
Instead of telling his parents, who were uneducated, he chose to deceive them.
He continued collecting school fees, pocket money, and project funds from them under false pretences.
It was not until his supposed graduation year that the truth was exposed.
Can you imagine the pain he caused his family and the consequences he brought upon himself?
My dear child, if you have involved yourself in deception, whether to your parents, elders, or others, God is calling you to repentance.
Forsake your old ways and commit to living in truth as a new creation in Christ.
Deception only damages relationships with people and separates them from God. Choose integrity today.
Prayer Point:
Father, please help me to walk in truth always.
HYMN 15: WHEN WE WALK WITH THE LORD
1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey. [Refrain]
3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]
4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]
