Title: Skillful And Excellent
Memorize: As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. Daniel 1:17 (Nkjv)
Bible Reading: Exodus 31:1-6 (Nkjv)
[1] Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
[2] “See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah.
[3] And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, [4] to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze,
[5] in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship.
[6] “And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you:
Message:
Skillfulness is important in every area of life, and God has given every one of us unique talents and skills. These talents and skills are meant to glorify Him and serve others; therefore, it is important for us to discover the talents and skills that God has given us and develop them. Whatever skill you have, whether in music, writing, technology, leadership, teaching, designing, public speaking, or craftsmanship, God wants you to be excellent at it.
In Daniel 1:20, Daniel and his friends stood out with their wisdom and knowledge such that the king “found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers that were in all his realm.” Similarly, in today’s Bible reading, Bezaleel was filled with the Spirit of God and was also gifted with artistic abilities to build the temple.
My dear child, take your time to learn new things about the skills or talents you have been given. In today’s world, social media, especially You Tube, has made learning easier. There is almost no skill that you cannot learn on YouTube. You can also attend seminars and trainings, especially during your holidays, in order to develop your skills. It is not enough to have skills and talents; you must be excellent at whatever you do.
Reflection:
What skills do you have? Are you excellent with at them?
Hymn 10: I’m Pressing On The Upward Way
1 I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I onward bound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
Refrain:
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table land;
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
2 My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Tho’ some may dwell where these abound,
My pray’r, my aim is higher ground.
3 I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
4 I want to scale the utmost height,
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till Heav’n I’ve found,
Lord, lead me on to higher ground.
